Economists Warn of Impending Recession

Leading economists are raising alarms about a potential recession in 2025, attributing concerns to the economic impact of newly imposed tariffs by former President Trump. Moody's Analytics' Mark Zandi estimates a greater than 50% chance of a global recession, while JPMorgan has increased its recession probability from 40% to 60%. Apollo Global Management’s Torsten Sløk predicts a 90% chance of a U.S. recession, citing damaging effects on small businesses and potential widespread supply disruptions.

Trump's Tariff Policies Stir Economic Uncertainty

President Trump's aggressive tariff policies, including a 145% levy on Chinese imports, have led to significant economic uncertainty. While some tariffs have been paused for 90 days, the average effective U.S. tariff rate remains at its highest in over a century, contributing to downgraded GDP growth projections and rising expectations of a recession.

Small Businesses Express Concerns Over Tariffs

Fashion Industry Pushes for 'Smart Factories'

Famed designer Phillip Bloch is leading an initiative to revitalize the American fashion industry by promoting the development of "smart factories" across the U.S. In response to ongoing tariff issues, Bloch is forming a coalition of domestic clothing manufacturers to secure government funding for modernizing U.S. apparel production.

Inspirational Quote

Focus of The Week

Thinking Like an Investor, Not a Consumer

Millionaire Mindset Principle: The wealthy don’t think like consumers—they think like investors. Every dollar, every minute, every ounce of energy is considered an investment, not just an expense. It’s the habit of asking, “What’s the return on this?” instead of “Can I afford it?”

While consumers focus on what they can buy, investors focus on what they can build. That mindset shift is what separates wealth builders from wealth spenders.

How to Apply It This Week:

  • Question Every Purchase: Before buying something, ask, “Will this item make me money, save me time, or improve my long-term well-being?” If the answer is no, pause.

  • Look for Asymmetric Returns: Seek small inputs with large upside—like reading a book that can transform your finances or taking a course that could land you a better-paying skill.

  • Invest Time Like Capital: Would you spend $1,000 on a meeting with someone who wastes your time? No. So treat every hour the same way. Guard it. Invest it.

  • Start a “Value Tracker”: Write down one thing you spent time or money on each day this week and rate it from 1–10 on its long-term return to your life.

  • Build Before You Buy: Want that expensive car, house, or lifestyle? Focus first on building something that can fund it passively—then reward yourself after the asset is in place.

Take Action!

The “Investor’s Lens” Audit

Goal: Start thinking like an investor in all areas of life—money, time, and energy.

🔹 Day 1: Conduct a 24-Hour Consumption Audit

Track every dollar you spend, every hour you use, and every task you do. Label each as either:

  • Consumption (cost with no long-term return)

  • Investment (creates future value)

  • Example: Scrolling TikTok = Consumption. Listening to a finance podcast = Investment.

🔹 Day 2–4: Replace 2 Consumer Habits with Investor Habits

Choose two regular “consumer” habits (e.g., impulse buying, binge watching, comfort scrolling) and replace them with “investor” actions:

  • Watch a YouTube video on investing or business

  • Start a simple savings challenge

  • Read 10 pages of a skill-building book

  • Work on your side hustle or network with someone smart

🔹 Day 5–6: Make One Micro Investment

Invest in something that will grow:

  • Buy a book, course, or tool

  • Open a brokerage account and invest $10

  • Hire someone to save you time (a VA, designer, or expert)

  • Upgrade a workspace or system that boosts productivity

🔹 Day 7: Reflect & Plan

Write down:

  • What did I gain from thinking like an investor this week?

  • What habit will I keep or scale?

  • What area of life needs more intentional investment next?

  • Bonus: Pick ONE big consumer habit to eliminate for 30 days.

Millionaire Myth-Busting

“You Have to Have Money to Make Money”

🧨 Myth Status: DEBUNKED

The Lie:
“You need capital to start a business.”
“You need thousands to invest.”
“You need a rich family or perfect credit score.”

The Truth:
You don’t need money—you need leverage, skill, and resourcefulness.

The vast majority of self-made millionaires started with little or nothing. What they had was a bias for action. They learned skills, built value, traded time for opportunity, and reinvested aggressively. Today, you can start a business with your phone, build an audience with content, or invest with less than $5.

Examples:

  • YouTube creators who started with a $0 budget and a smartphone

  • Freelancers who learned a free skill online and started charging clients

  • Investors who used apps like Acorns, Robinhood, or Fundrise with minimal capital

  • Resellers who flipped items from thrift stores to fund bigger projects

The Real Millionaire Mindset:
If you’re hungry, you find a way. You borrow knowledge. You trade your time before you trade your money. You turn what you know into value—and value into income.

🧠 This Week’s Reframe:
Don’t ask, “What can I afford?”
Ask, “What can I create?”

Let this be the week you shift from consumer → investor, follower → builder. The mindset always comes before the money.
